The year 2025 marks the third year of collaboration between the Sociology Education Department of FISIP UNY and the Centre of Pedagogical Research and Innovation (CoPRI) at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), Malaysia. In the first year, the partnership began with meetings and discussions to plan future collaborations. In 2024, the cooperation materialized in two key activities. The first was a Visiting Lecturer program, where two lecturers from CoPRI conducted sessions with students in the Sociology Education Department at UNY. The second was the successful hosting of The 1st International Joint Seminar on Education and Social Issues (IJSESI). This seminar was attended by 104 participants from several countries and featured 12 speakers from Indonesia, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka, with the Sociology Education Department acting as the host.

Building on the success of the international seminar, the collaboration continued in 2025 with CoPRI hosting the event. Yogyakarta State University (UNY) will be a partner institution, along with several other universities from various countries. As part of this, a lecturer from the Sociology Education Department will serve as a keynote speaker and present at the international conference. This collaboration demonstrates UNY's commitment to enhancing its Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), specifically by having study programs work with world-class partners and by faculty engaging in activities outside the campus.

The partnership began with academic discussions between the teams from Sociology Education at FISIP UNY and CoPRI to plan future joint activities, including international seminars, collaborative research, community services, and webinars involving both institutions. Following these discussions, an Implementation Agreement (IA) document was signed to formalize the commitment for the International Joint Seminar and Academic Discussion, solidifying the partnership between the two institutions.
